AIRDROID (AKA MRS SHINY) part 2

As feared, I did not get the AirDroid installed this season. The little ESP32 based cameras are a total bust. I'd been prepared to live with the slow refresh rate but there are far too many dropped frames for me to feel comfortable that the image I'm seeing on my phone has any chance of being reliable in terms of where my camper is in relation to that tree or the shore hookup post I'm backing up to. I've given up on the DVD player, while it kind of worked there is no real advantage to having it since I can just store music and movies on the 256GB M.2 stick I have slung under the RockPi. If I really need to I can rip music on my laptop and upload the files. Any movies someone would want to watch can just be put in the portable DVD I've duck taped to an old video projector / Raspberry Pi hack I made for out door movies. OK, I didn't really use duck tape but the contraption definitely has that Red Green show feel to it. I suppose I really should make a post about "that movie thing".

On the good news side of this far too old project... I finally received a back ordered RTL SDR Bloc dongle along with a bag-o-antenna adapters and it works like a champ. I can at least hear radio using the SDR Touch app. I'm gonna have to look around and see if I can find a plain old radio and NTSC TV apps that will use it as the tuner. I can't see my wife trying to figure out how to dial in country music using SDR touch but something that can scan FM and display a grid of buttons for each station found would be nice. If not then there seems to be enough help on this little dongle that I can hack one together which would justify ripping the old stereo out and replacing it.

Fingers Crossed!
For now we start out the season with the old spark-o-matic.
