Network Connectivity Monitoring by Alexa.
You heard me. Our favorite brain dead AI apparently has a new function I'd never considered. She has built in Network Connectivity Monitoring.
A neighbor, probably stuck at home because of the COVID-19 panick, decided today was a good day for some early spring cleaning in his yard. Said spring cleaning included taking a tree down. People, please leave tasks like this to professionals! You guessed it, tree came down on the power line taking out power, phones, cable TV, and Internet for my neighborhood.
Fortunately, we have the handy dandy whole house generator with magic auto start. Also fortunately, I'd done a recent pull for Git so I have current master and a full local dev environment to keep working cuz... no internet!.

About 10 minutes ago my Alexa starts blinking and whirring to life. WTF? So I check and sure as shit, the network is back on line. Who Knew? Just as I'm about to go up stair and announce the good news to my wife, she announces over "Drop In" that "Hey, the internet is back online". Now why didn't I think of that?
